According to the National Fire Protection Association, having working smoke alarms increases your chances of surviving a fire by 50% The Fire Department will be conducting a number of education sessions that will reach over 600 students on the Island. In addition, don’t forget that we conclude FPW with the Volunteer Firefighters Association Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 9. Bring your appetite and your jacket for the fire truck rides. Terri Smith Retirement Finance Administrator Terri Smith will retire in September after 12.5 years of service for Bainbridge Island Fire Department. Terri began in 1998 in finance and has worked in that capacity under four Chiefs as the position has expanded to include Human Resource functions and increased Board of Commissioners support. The growth of the Department over the past decade has forced administration to keep up with the associated legal, personnel, and payroll responsibilities. Terri has always risen to the challenge before her, and has improved the efficiency of administration through procedural and policy changes. Her attention to detail and thorough analysis has been an instrumental part of the clean audit records the Department has enjoyed for 16 years.
In recognition of Terri's service, the Department will host a public recognition event on September 29, 2010, from 4:00 to 6:30PM. Join us in celebrating her accomplishments and thanking her for her service as we wish her well in retirement! Hank Teran, Fire Chief |
