Winter Storm Incident On Monday, December 3rd, the Bainbridge Island Fire Department responded over 60 calls for service due to the severe winter storm that bombarded Bainbridge Island with heavy rain conditions. More than 30 firefighters responded to service calls for all types of events, including medical emergencies, flooding, wires down, mud slides, and other weather-related calls for service. The Bainbridge Island Fire Department was also utilized as a member of the City’s emergency management team at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located at City Hall. The Fire Department worked along side other City Staff for the duration of the incident. Recovery Efforts According to the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) there are no county/state funds available to help individuals with disaster-related losses. If damage to homes and businesses is significant, the state will request Federal Disaster Aid. If authorized, the funding would be available to assist local governments and certain non-profit groups in supplementing the state and local recovery efforts. |
